4th of July in Beijing
Last summer, my friends and I went to Beijing’s Hard Rock Cafe to celebrate the 4th of July. Good times were had by all—since we hadn’t discovered Steak and Eggs yet, the meal was our first dose of American food since arriving in Beijing a month earlier.
This year I have slightly more ambitious plans, and that’s to land an invitation to the American Embassy’s party. One of my classmates said that he heard its possible to get in if we calls ahead posing as a journalist. We could say we are writing a story about the celebration for our university’s paper back home. I’d be pretty surprised if this gets us in, but it’s worth a shot.
Do you American expats do anything for the 4th of July?

The biggest American party is thrown by the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing. 600+ People. Honestly its not that fun, mostly older people. The best way to enjoy yourself is to do something with your friends.
I went to the Chamber party last year. It was definitely a mostly older crowd. I think more fun will be had in Sanlitun, or near Worker’s Stadium, or even at Lush in Wudaokou.
